Figured I would re-title this thread and make it a little more interesting ....I will update more decoy art as I make them ....why I make decoy art so as not to waste paint...lol...I work on many bigger pieces and there is always left over paint as in not to waste I create little pieces of art ..decoy art where I do them real fast on most occasions and with a lot of texture as I use a knife as my painting tool...
the card on the right is of my niece she really freaked when I showed her it and will be coming to get it...lol
comments are always welcomed
Nice decoys, you should sell them to Panini and UD to repackage.
Thanks, although I do send to Upper Deck on occasion and they have give away contest's ....I going to build a huge mural as they accumulate ...
Thats really cool, I have this picture of my wife from when we were married, If I send it to you, can you do one for me, just a face picture, when you have the chance next time, can pay ya or send ya a nice card from my personal collction, its ok if you dont want to.
Just your work is amazing and my wife thinks the same!
very sweet cards
I just love the work you do.
I am so glad I talked you into showing us your handywork!
Thanks for all the kind words .....makes me feel good that you all enjoy them....I coat the fronts with a gloss or flat varnish and sides it also protects against U.V. and discoloration..here is how I do the backs mostly quick scenery's or just clouds because there quick....I use a brush for the backs I apply the paint then look to see what I can see in this one I title it save the whale.........
was a little on the lazy side today so from doing the hair on the bigger piece I left it early and done this with the tip of the knife........
can you guess who it is...lol
Man, those are impressive!!
rub out technique...
You!!!!
Today's quickie....thoughts and comments welcomed...
Who likes the idea of a give away?If there are enough people who are interested I just may do just that...
today's
going to rework this one a little tomorrow....
need to build the texture up need to add more depth and color ...that is one of the biggest peeves I have with decoys are there size the trick is to keep applying the paint....
On a side note gotta really dig all these Rockers coming out with new stuff ZZ Top,Mick and the boy's ,Kiss...incredible but as they say it runs in the blood...
Today's quickie .......Hello my name is...
thoughts and comments always welcomed...
The ZZ Top and Johnny Cash are sweet!! .Please have a give away contest
Thanks for the comment....still waiting to see if people are interested in a contest can't really have one with one person...
Not to sure on who is next George Harrison,Jerry Lee,Elvis,Shoeless Joe Jackson?.......
Nice work.
In the first post the one on the right looks like a photograph at first glance. The "rub out" technique one is also very cool, reminds me of those portraits that are in the old school suspense/horror movies. Not the ones with the eyes that follow you but the ones where someone visiting the old haunted mansion looks exactly like the person in the 200 year old portrait.
I believe a give away would be in order!
being a beatles, zep and floyd fan of course I would pick one of those.
You won't like me if....
In my life.....
Today only a couple of backs....both center piece and apple have gel and crystalina added........
Thoughts and comments always welcomed....
These have me thinking, what if you did like a tree scene? Like a tree on the far left or right and all the leaves on the ground. Kinda a fall look. I think it would be cool. And I know its got to be kinda hard to do a big scene on a little card size thing. But its a simple idea, but would be cool. Kinda like you do the smeary look. Just a idea lol.
@ edge..........I made plenty of scene paintings throughout the years....
im going to see mac on 11/11 in st lou
That should be a super show I am sure you will enjoy it...I will be going to The Who 11/20 here in Montreal ...so many coming in November...Journey with Benatar and Loverboy 11/05....Dylan with Mark Knopfler 11/16....Neil Young and Crazy Horse 11/23......
Don't have a clue why the young are afraid of this one...lol..
My niece passed by and wanted me to make her one like a barbie ...
Long day today working on my big piece ....plenty of color left over but I got tired...so this one is only near complete but almost there the model is my niece the same niece as in the very first decoy on the right in this thread...anyhow here
Had to make something for Halloween (abstract) not crazy about doing these
Thoughts and comments always welcomed.....would really like to hear comments on what you see in this painting...I know what I see and want to see how obvious it is...or isn't....
knopfler was here and i missed him!
Well did not get any responses for that last painting ..if you like really look into the painting and you will see the dog,the person pouring a cup of coffee on my head ,the lone picnic...and many more but enough with that.....
My niece got me to make her another said it was her favorite song...
was real tough to get any detail in especially with the bumpy gesso...
messed up song reason for all the gesso as an artist we have to render accordingly.....lol...@ ace you missed a great show when you missed that show he can really play...
I know so i heard.
I was a dire straits fan from the first song on. Own all the cds not sure what i was thinking!
nice work
