Have you ever been lucky enough to catch a homerun ball? How about a foul ball?
I went to a Yankees game in the June of '06 and I got there as soon as the gates opened. It really paid off as I got a Derek Jeter batting practice homerun ball. Although it wasn't in the game it is still pretty cool. Also later in the game, I was about 5 feet from catching a Jorge Posada homerun. When I go to the Louisville Bats games I have a lot of success but not catching anything. I get a ball tossed to me almost everygame.
use to go to a lot of redwox game with my fatherin law good friends with johnny pesky last one went to coaught a foul ball
A friend and I were at an Astros game and got up to get something to eat. As I was watching the screen waiting to order, and hearing the loud cheer that comes with a homerun, I noticed that the ball hit right where I had been sitting. (I could tell because of the large flower boxes they have placed there and the people that were sitting next to me.) By the way, the people sitting next to me took MY Bagwell homerun ball home. The nachos were good but not THAT good. -Vickie
those are some cool stories guys well i didnt get a hr ball but i got a foul ball at our spokane indians game (single single a for the rangers) and a guy hit a foul ball and hit me right in the hands bounced out hit the cement and then bounced right back into my hands it was pretty cool i still have the ball and always will
I got 3 HR balls, 2 in one day! Read about them here (last post on the first page): http://www.tradingcardcentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17342&st=0#
two foul balls at old busch stadium both in the air.. I got a contract from the cardinals for the first one signed by Joe Torre!
Madison caught one thrown by Derrick Lee last year!
On September 5th of this year, I was on TV for a good 10 seconds when I got a line-drive foul ball off the bat of Mark Teixeira at the Braves-Phillies game. The ball was coming at me at atleast 100mph or more. I caught it so easily and they actually showed a replay of me catching the ball and the announcers were comparing me to some other player on how I caught the ball. Pretty sweet and I got it on video on my website
The video is at the bottom of the page:

I caught one from Moises Alou in the left Field Bleachers Of Wrigley In 2003.
Still have it. Unfortunatly, after the game my wife used it to get autographs of Hee Sop Choi, Tom Goodwin, Mike Remlinger and some other guy I do not remember .
I also Caught one at Miller park that Tom Gordon threw to my daughter while shaggin fly balls in the outfield during batting practice.
Yes, It is.
I got hit with a deflected foul ball. Does that count?
Great thread...very entertaining reads....
last summer me and my pops went to a yankee game..we always go to batting practice..and this time was no change..we took our place in the right field porch..this was a yankees-redsox game mind you..anyways we get there about 15 mins into batting practice..about 10 minutes after that my dads catches a rip just fair down the line barehanded..he like jumped in the air to snatch it and feel back about one and half rows..one of the sickest catches i have ever seen.it was on the yankees batting practice show..anyways he caught the ball and it ripped off his finger nail and broke the tip of his finger..but as far as catchin foul balls goes it was one of the coolest things i have ever seen..WAY TO GO DAD..lol..figured u guys would like this
p.s. the ball has his blood on it..its pretty insane..def a story for the grandkids
nice storys!
My dad caught foul ball for me at Miller park in the air, on the 2nd deck behind home plate...It was the last game of the year (2004 I believe) and they were playing the Diamondbacks...James Mouton popped it up, and there is a big black mark on the ball from his bat. This past summer I caught a Carlos Lee batting practice home run ball in the upper deck in left field of Miller park, that was pretty neat considering Lee is a former Brewer.
This is'nt catching anything, But in 2005 My kids were picked to be part of Culvers major League moment at Miller park, the pics below are my son at Home plate with The umps and Damien Miller wondering what to do since the game is about to start, and my Daughter running from 1st behind Ryan Freel. She was at 1st with Lyle Overbay
Overbay hit for the cycle and went 5-5 that day too with I think 7-8 RBI.
The Pic Of Ken Griffey Jr. ( top) was taken right before he turned to me with a Double take.. ( I"m 6"10") and had a look on his face like I was the tallest white guy he'd seen since Randy Johnson..lol.
The pics below are them getting introduced over the P.A. system and their pics on the jumbotron, the bottom one is them standing at their respective bases.
I have other pics too, but they are kinda hard to see since the way I scanned them.
well, it wasnt me but, last summer at the HS playoffs, a ball was hit behind home plate into the crowd.
at first the guy looked like he was going to let it go over him, but then he sort of adjusts in his seat, and caught the ball 1 handed while talking on his cell phone, and the whole crowd was cheering
this isnt about sports but,
we have assemblys at school, and they were giving away candy bars, so a kid won a candy bar, didnt want it so he threw it in our section.
i was watching it go, and all of a sudden, this kid who is 6'7", reaches out and snatches it out of the air
the look on the persons face who was about to catch it was hilarious
How about catching foul balls? Cause I have caught 3 when at the Reading Phillies.
A couple years ago i went to a colorado springs sky sox game against the nashville stars? (brewers minor league team) it was the night b4 prince fielder got called up to the bigs and he actually threw a ball to me after the 3rd inning and then i got it auto'd after the game (its in my safety deposit box lol)
I got my foul ball off the bat of Brian Giles at ole Three Rivers Stadium. I used to have seats right behind home plate in the 400 level. The ball I caught was on the fly and I caught more because of self defense pruposes to be quite honest. If anybody ever sat up there and had a ball whiz by their head, they know what I am talking about. If we got a ball up there, it had sizzle on it ... lol. Anyway, I got Giles to auto the ball for me on the next homestand and it proudly sits in my famous "Pittsburgh room" here at my house.
I caught 1 in practice at a cardinals game
