Collector Zone _ Football _ The Official Dallas Cowboys Thread

Posted by: sebredsox24 Oct 25 2009, 09:52 AM

I cant believe there isnt one of these! I know its not a great time for Cowboys fans, but this can be a place to come and vent lol. A win today would be nice, keeping the Boys away from that .500 line. Lets hope Barber and Ware can get back to full strength. The falcons are a tough team so I expect a good game today

Posted by: sebredsox24 Oct 25 2009, 08:21 PM

I missed the first 3 quarters od todays game for my eagle scout ceremony, but what I did see impressed me. Miles Austin is tearing it up and the defense got a lot of pressure on Ryan. This was definitely a big win to keep the Boys in the hunt for the NFC East. Seahwaks next week

Forgot about this thread, but I thought I would bump it up after the big win yesterday! Romo, Witten, Barber, and Austin seem to be at the tops of their games and the defence has posted up back to back shutouts for the first time in franchise history. Saying that, I am not overly confident in the Boys against the Eagles this weekend as they have not won a postseason game since 1996. However, I am very excited! So what do you guys think? Can Dallas beat Philly for the third time this season?

Posted by: SinatraKing Jan 5 2010, 03:31 PM

You know, I am very confident in our Boys this weekend. They will by no means Shut Out the Eagles again, but I have every confidence they will win and advance. I have felt this way all season, despite the few set backs we had. This year they have truly grown as a team, and strengthened their game. I will be wearing my number 24 Jersey on Saturday, and I will be celebrating heartily with all of the Cowboy Fans Worldwide. biggrin.gif

I want the Boys to win. But I am afraid they wont for the same reason I dont want the vikes to face the Packers Its to hard to beat the same team three times in one year

ask the 1998 jaguars about that. 14-2 in the reg season and a loss in the AFC championship... all to, you guessed it, the Titans.

but for the most part your right but i will say this. IF the cowboys do beat the eagles i think they will be in the superbowl. It really just depends on how Tony Romo handles the 1st game. I can honestly say i have no clue who wins this game.

Bingo. I feel more confident in Romo's target this year (Austin/Witten) than I was in past years with TO. One thing I do not understand is why Wade Phillips made Romo the holder again. I understand they cut Folk, so they had Romo hold for Buehler, but now that they signed Suisham, why isn't Buehler holding again?? It's so unnecessary!

I don't remember the last time I was this excited for a 'Boys game. I'm going to Buffalo Wild Wings in my Romo jersey. That place is like heaven on Sundays ;]

Posted by: tj4eck Jan 9 2010, 07:59 PM

Cowboys - 21
Eagles - 27

Posted by: sebredsox24 Jan 9 2010, 08:00 PM

Nah Cowboys 31 Eagles 24

Posted by: sebredsox24 Jan 9 2010, 08:36 PM

The offense looks so explosive, they just can't finish! I'd really like to see them put up a TD here!

I'm just assuring a cowboys victory I am on a serious cold-streak on pick ems

Posted by: sebredsox24 Jan 9 2010, 09:51 PM

Nice first half! The offense is rolling and the Eagles offense hasn't made too much progress excluding the 70+ yard touchdown pass that Jenkins fell down on in coverage. Wade Phillips may just hang around another year ;]

This one's wrapped up! Great game all around by th 'boys! That's 1 down 3 to go!

Posted by: snkpoct137 Jan 17 2010, 02:40 PM

looks like Tony Romo is going all Tony Romo again.

Posted by: cardinal Jan 17 2010, 04:10 PM

Well...that didn't go over too well to say the least.

Posted by: booth9919 Jan 17 2010, 04:15 PM

I am sorry Boys fans I wold you this was going to happen biggrin.gif

AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Where in the Heck was our O Line????? After Flozel goes out, its like the protection just stopped. Our Defense was the only thing working, and they even missed key plays. Not even ONE touchdown, and we should have had at least two. Congrats to the Vikes, I guess next year we will win two Playoff Games, and then lose the NFC Championship. Baby steps. Next week, I cheer for the........hhhmmmmm.

Posted by: sebredsox24 Jan 18 2010, 01:59 PM

I just finished crying... That was terrible! The line stunk! Romo made awful decisions! AND we the kicker missed twice! Can anyone kick a field goal? Let's draft a kicker 1st round. We'll win 3 games from it.

Flozell Adams is the NFL's most overrated LT, and BY FAR the league's cheapest player. (Just watch his karate trip kick to the leg of Justin Tuck, a star player that beat him ALL game. That was the only way Flozell knew how to stop him and it took Tuck out for multiple games I believe.)

And I wouldn't necessarily say they're defense was working. Terrence Newman and Mike Jenkins were getting burned like it was their job.

P.S. - Jason Witten layed a sweet block on Jared Allen on that Romo fumble play tongue.gif

Posted by: sebredsox24 Apr 4 2010, 10:53 AM

The Cowboys released Ken Hamlin and Flozell Adams. Flo had a rough last couple years. He had trouble getting his hands on the speed rushers and that eventually did him in. Hopefully the Cowboys start adding players in this free agency period, rather than just releasing them...

Wrote my first article for my new site. It's called https://gridironblitz.com/threads/romo-haters-have-it-all-wrong.1/. Cowboys fans check it out and let me know what you think.

Here is where your fault is

Romo hasnt WON anything

Aikman 3 titles
Staubach 2

Romo Zero

and winning is EVERYTHING in the NFL

The only time Romo was close to winning anything important, he bumbled a snap for a FG and they lost..

End of story, no more stats needed!

and I'm a COWBOY Hater not a romo hater laugh.gif

Like I said in the article, quarterbacks don't win championships on their own. Look at the teams that those guys had around them. Romo has only had a decent running game once, when they were 1 Murray fumble, or Dez dropped pass (he caught it) away from the NFC championship game. He's also never had a defense even remotely close to any of the Dallas Super Bowl defenses.

sorry, dont buy it.

Roger staubach was a leader who inspired greatness from his teammates.

Romo doesnt inspire his teammates, seems like a me first player on the field!

...and you know what's happening on the field by watching the plays on TV?

Look, read the article and you'll know that I'm not saying that Romo is definitely the best quarterback to ever wear the star. My point is simply that the haters who say that he's the only reason the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl as of late are just in denial. The entire team is terrible. Romo has actually been one of the most consistent players on the team, in terms of production. Outside of Demarcus Ware and Jason Witten, he might be at the top of the list. He certainly deserves a spot in the discussion when you're talking about who the best quarterback for the Cowboys was/is.

I am sure we could make a case (stat wise) that eddie lebaron and dandy don meredith should be included in the greatest of all time too. tongue.gif

Again my issue is Greatness in the NFL is measured by championships won. those are the guys who go down in the annals of NFL lore.

Sadly until Romo etches his name on the Lombardi trophy he will just be a good QB

also, i hate all Cowboys.. i just dont pick on romo! laugh.gif

So you would have the same argument when talking about Dan Marino? Also, by your own argument, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are to be considered a couple of the best to ever play the position? I'm sorry, but that argument just doesn't make any sense.

Like I said, quarterbacks don't win Super Bowls. Teams do, and most of the time the team that wins does so behind a pretty dang good defense.

no..

Its not a one extreme to the others.

You know the greats just like i do , hall of fame careers doted with a championship or two or 4 or 6

Brady, manning, Favre, Aikman, Bradshaw, Staubach, Montana, Unitas, Starr, Otto Graham, Baugh. Im sure im missing a few but those come instantly to mind leaders, champions, they got it done .

Many folks won championships heck Joe namath won one and is in the hof but he was no better than mediocre for the better part of his career. some like Joe had the careers cut short by injury, others had one brief shining moment (mark rypien) Dont make them great , dont even make them memorable.

Now your boy is down again 6-10 weeks. Injuries dont quite get the job done either. its an unfortunate thing but it is part of the game. Romo is a "good " qB, I dont think he will ever rise above that class!

Romo is consistent at getting injured, so he's at least got that going for him!
