It's kind of hard for me to choose a side on this one. I like to do a lot of eBay purchasing as well as buying up some cards from a fellow collector. eBay prices can be lower or higher than a TCC member's prices (obviously depending on the item), but since I usually am collecting players that not a lot of people around here seem to have (Marcus Vick, 2006 MN Vikings RCs that are not Tarvaris Jackson or Chad Greenway), eBay is usually the place to go. Plus, on eBay you occassionally can get a few great steals as well. I have received a card once or twice that has been a little dinged up, but not bad overall. On the other hand, it is definitely nice to be able to negotiate sales with fellow collectors on TCC. You don't have that option on eBay and you usually don't have to compete with anyone else when making a deal, so it is definitely a lot friendlier experience. Occassionally you will come across a fellow member who is really trying to take people's money though. Just the other day I found a card a member was selling that I was interested in, and I asked him how much that card was. He pretty much told me he was selling it for it's book value. I told him that not many people are going to pay book ever for a card (just trying to help him out) and he got pretty defensive over the whole thing. Granted, a lot of those people will learn pretty quick that no one will buy their stuff. Anyways, that's my whole take on the subject.

Why do either.. with a simple bit of negotiating thru the community a compatible price couldve been reached which would have satisfied both parties.
I do not consider EBAY a community , like we are here..

It's a catch-22.
When I buy and sell on trade sites, I go a little below ebay value.
As a seller, I always sell below ebay value on sites like these. Why? Because I don't have to go through the hassle of listing items, and I do not have to deal with listing fees, final value fees, etc. So, why not sell for a little under ebay value when in a sense I'm making the same amount of money?
As a buyer, I think of it the same way. The person selling me the card doesn't have to go through the hassle of listing, all the other fees, non-paying bidders, etc.
All on how you look at it. Personally, if it's me and say I have a card that sold on ebay for $55.62 + $3 for shipping. I'll sell for $50, as it's risk-free, no hassles, etc.
