Hey TCC,

So I've been dipping my toes back into the trading world, trying out a couple sites, and I've noticed a consistent theme (apart from TCC), nobody wants to trade anymore.

Maybe I'm old school, and I know living in the past is bad, but trading used to be the way to go. Everyone had a player they collected, you traded for your favorite player, kept tradebait, a trade list.

These days, trading threads are few and far between the sales threads. It seems nobody wants to trade, but everyone is eager to make a quick buck.

It's a shame too, because it's not like the inflow of cards to collectors has died down, I still see stuff I would love to have all the time. But I get the *same* response from the person who has it "Only looking to sell."

Maybe it's just me, but that's how it feels to me these days. Nobody wants to trade, and worse at that, what they charge is getting higher. I remember my first online sports card site, Sports Card Freaks. The first deal I made was for a Jason Avant Topps Chrome rookie autograph, 5 dollars, shipped.

Meanwhile, yesterday, trying to buy a game worn jersey from Curtis Joseph "5 dollars plus I won't ship unless you buy 3 things because it wastes my time."

Online trading isn't what it once was. Maybe it's the economy, maybe it's the companies, hell, maybe I'm insane and I'm not seeing the traders everywhere. But that's what it feels like to me, and I guess it's just a bit upsetting.

Thanks for listening to me rant!
~Trevor.

Trading is not what it used to be. Postal rates have made it impossible to trade when you spend $3 to mail a package in the US or $6 to mail to Canada. Beyond that it is really hard to make deals as traders seem to want bigger deals to make it worth the shipping costs. It ultimately made me put all of my football traders up for sale at a local show. I think this is why most people have resorted to selling as it is easier.

I usually end up buying mostly because I never seem to have the HOT players folks are looking for. Most of my "current" cards I get through group box breaks.

I've got tons of "tradebait" but I also have tons of not really organized, not sure if I really wanna keep it stuff. Collecting for basically a life-time tends to do that to you.

Oh also for the most part I have cut back on using photobucket and rarely search buckets anymore. Got real tired of uncropped, unfocused camera phone or webcam images and buckets w/ cards unidentified or just with a title like "06 Jones RC" OK Which Jones is it? Is that Topps or Upper Deck?
And Albums that are too general or not divided by sport or type of card. Also most are only the last 2 or 3 years worth of cards.

I also never really liked going to those freewebs pages with pages and pages of text only lists that don't seem to have any order to them at all. Oh it is divided by sport and Year Um OK. (Don't look it)
