OOooops, looks like I am human afterall oops.gif
It is a Elway/Montana not a Elway/Marino
Is there a way to edit a poll?
Looked like a nice month to give redemptions some LOVE tongue.gif
We might hate to pull them, but they can be sweet when they arrive.
I am guessing Note#2 below is the toughest, but it SURE would Help.
I see a lot but I can't see everything. For those that sent nominee's thanks, and for those that didn't Why not?

We all know Gforce was the winner in a closely contested race for "Hosting" a break. In an effort to see if how "hosts" relate to Great Pulls, I am going to create a poll, just for the fun of it. As with Mr. 264's polls the monthly winner has bragging rights, sorry there isn't a sash to be awarded
"Borrowing and modifying" some of his guidelines this is how we can do it.

Guidelines:

1) Nominations are group breaks pulls.... 1 per month/group.
2) Nominations must be posted in Group Break forum, and posted by the Host who pulled it and please name the participant who receives it.
3) Pictures/Scans, although not required, are extremely helpful. If you have a video link of the actual pull and it's in a short (5 min or so) I can go through those. If you don't scan or take a picture, be very clear in the thread what you pulled.
4) Remember I am human and will miss some things. (yes, I copied that line)

This is all intended to be fun and showing off some neat cards.

Feb winner NYMETSJETS
Mar winner GForce083
Apr winner Crpalmi

I would like to write in a nomination for the Low Budget Hockey Group's break for April, hosted by Urbanmonk (Dwight). In the break we opened a box of 06-07 Parkhurst Hockey, and we pulled a Bobby Orr auto from that break bv $250.

I did see a break of Dwights, must have missed the hockey one. Sounds sweet, wish I had it in there.

At least throw us a pic in the thread and show it off.

One of my other threads will be subtitled for the Month of Nominees.
I usually start that the same time I post the new poll. I'll go ahead and change the subtitle for May's. We can take nominees' all month long, the more the better, With luck we can get a 10-15 option poll.

No appriciation for the "old school" guys around here. rolleyes.gif

How does a Bronco Nagurski cut auto NOT make it into the list?

How many autos of these guys (even guys like Joe Flacco, who have only been in 1 year of cards) are there out in the world?

How many Bronco Nagurski autos are there?

How many more autos will these guys sign that will come out in future years products?

How many more autos will Nagurski sign?

(that would be zero for those who dont know he passed away in 1990)

But who am I to say what should be nominated?

I like the card, even if that just makes me an old fart stuck in the past. laugh.gif wink.gif

How many Bronco Nagurski autos are there?

At least 102 for that version of 1 card in 1 product

How many more autos will these guys sign that will come out in future years products?

Who knows, or will actually care in future years

How many more autos will Nagurski sign?

0, the same number as all the other past away athletes

(that would be zero for those who dont know he passed away in 1990)
But who am I to say what should be nominated?

Did it have a cool patch and Number?
Was it a hot RC and cool patch?
Was it a highly recognized NBA Star Patch auto?
Was there another auto?

No one ever said it wasn't a nice card, but I only take one per group break.

Im not offended at all.. like I said, Im happy with the card, nominated or not. Its not like it would have a chance of winning if nominated anyway.. no appriciation of histroy around here for that to happen. laugh.gif

Think of it this way, lets compare it to the card that was nominated in the same break.. the Flacco.

Flacco had a nice year and all (but its not like his stats were that great), but Rick Mirer had a nice first year too. One year does not make you a HOFer. Nagurski is in the HOF.. and like the card says (for those that didnt already know), he was inducted in the charter class of 1963. So not only was he a "first ballot" HOFer, he was part of the "first group" of HOFers.

Nagurski does have 102 autos in that particular set, but lets compare total autos made to this point. Nagurski has a TOTAL (all years) of 26 different sets and/or subsets that include an auto card of him, for a total of 327 listed autos from those print runs (5 cards from 2008 Finest dont list a print run, but I think we can guess they are 1/1s, which would bring the number to 332 TOTAL autos made of Nagurski). Yes, the 102 print run is the LARGEST of those print runs. 17 of those 26 sets have a Nagurski print run of 1 (if you include the 5 finest cards as 1/1s). ohmy.gif

Now compare that to Flacco, Flacco has been in the league exactly ONE season and in that one season, there were 466 different sets and/ or subsets that included an auto of him.. Im not even going to add up the total number of autos (EASILY in the thousands), but I will throw out these numbers to show what I am talking about. Flacco has 115 different autographed cards that are 1/1s.. 115! Of the cards that are actually numbered or have an announced print run (so not including autos like the "base" Sage and Press Pass where we have NO IDEA how many were made, but we know they are far from 1/1s), Flacco has single cards from 4 different sets (Sage Silver-400, Classics- 399, SP Authentic-999, SPX- 599) that have a print run higher then the TOTAL number of autos cards made of Nagurski all time (332).

Again and this is just the first year of Flacco cards made.. who knows how many will come out in the following years. While there are likely to be more Nagurski autos released, they will be limited to whatever autos are already out there.. hes dead, hes not signing any "new" autos (or sticker sheets of autos).. that was my point.

Or we can just break it down to, sadly, what matters most to todays collectors.. book value.

The Flacco auto books at $250, the Nagurski books at $400.

Now, which one has the better odds of holding that value?

Flacco may go on to have a great career and someday end up the HOF.. or he could fizzle out and become the next Rick Mirer.. I like the kid and think he will be a good one, btw. But even if he makes it into the HOF someday, how many chances will collectors have to get their hands on an auto of his by the time all the auto cards of him are made?

Bronco is already in the HOF and I think its safe to say that Flacco is likely to have anywhere from a couple hundred to maybe a thousand or more autos released of him for every one Nagurski auto released by the time all are made.

Maybe Flacco will still have some released years after we are gone that are prized by our children and/ or grandchildren over the latest "new star". laugh.gif

Kiansdad
Thanks, How did you do that?

MWS, the object of this poll was to basically recognize the hard work of the group hosts.
Anyone can buy a box and then ask people to help them pay for it and call it a "Break".
A lot of people would like to risk getting into breaks, but aren't sure who to trust and what kind of bang they get for their buck. With breaks getting harder to fill with economics, I think it's good to see who we all trust and what we "score". Proving that it is worth it.
I like to see who gets it on the nominations for everyone to say congrats to and maybe hit them up for trades.
There will be a little something at the end for the group host winner, and I'm fairly certain that these gracious hard working individuals will likely pass on to their participants.

No you don't get $100 for the dual auto laugh.gif Nice Try.

In other words.... who gets the sash??

Glad to see that some of the other members are fighting for their cards to be included. That's a good sign Joe and a validation for me that they came away from the break happy. That's all I need. The sash can go to the card owner.

Tim I hear you on the Cut Auto...almost like there should be two categories between the rookie hits and historical hits. Why don't you get right on that Joe?

While we're at it I would argue that my AP RC Auto #28/50 from Aprils break should also garner consideration...but does it top the Montana/Elway? Probably not but I'll show it off anyway cause I like it!
