...and now for something completely different! It's time TCC has an outlet for Vintage collectors to do some group breaks. You think busting a pack of 2007 Exquisite is fun... you should try peeling away the wax on a vintage pack just once to experience excitement! The problem is cost. Can you afford to put down $200-$300 for a single pack only to find they're all off-center or gum stained? With group breaks we'll be able to have a shot at a variety of years and everyone in the break has a shot at hitting one of the bigger stars or the elusive PSA 10 vintage beauty. This group will be run differently than our other Boxbreaker groups as it will not be based on team assignments but by card sequence. Because of the number of tampered with vintage packs, we will be breaking mostly PSA or GAI (old flip) graded/encased wax packs (unless noted). ***************************************************************

Baseball Vintage Pack Break:

Payment Deadline: February 21st -- Break Date: February 28th

There will be two levels to this break. We will offer 5 slots that include the full product list below for $98 per slot, and 3 other slots that are discounted to $62 per slot but do not include the 66T pack. The product list is below and is based on 8 slots filled so each person would get 6-8 cards based on which level of slot is purchased (plus any inserts would be randomly drawn for).

1966 Topps Wax PSA 6 (5 cards)
1970 Topps Cello GAI 8 (12 cards?)
1971 OPC Wax GAI 8 (8 cards)
1972 Topps Wax GAI 8.5 (10 cards)
1972 OPC Wax (Series 2) GAI 9 (8 cards)
1974 Topps Wax - Raw (15 cards)

Slot 1 ($98) - Crpalmi
Slot 2 ($98) -
Slot 3 ($98) -
Slot 4 ($98) - Tileman
Slot 5 ($98) -
Slot 6 ($62) - Crpalmi
Slot 7 ($62) -
Slot 8 ($62) -

Because there are different numbers of cards in these packs we will run the break with the following guidelines. All eight participants will have a number drawn for their card position in the 71OPC and 72OPC packs. That will be followed by 3 numbers selected for the 72T Wax and 70T Cello combined. I believe the 72T Wax has 10 cards while the 70T Cello has 12 so 2 people may only get 2 cards instead of 3 from those slots. If that's the case those two slots will be awarded an insert if available from any of those 4 packs. The 74T Wax is a bonus raw pack and again we will draw 2 slots for each participant so one person will only get 1 card however that slot will get any bonus insert awarded to them. I cannot guarantee that every person will get 7 cards but most should and again, this will be determined by a drawing of slots prior to cracking any packs. The 5 slots that are $98 are included in all scenarios above but also get a slot in the 66T Wax break which should contain 5 cards. If so, the insert would be randomly drawn for among all 5 participants. Participants at this level should come away with 8 cards (but I can only guarantee 7 as there may be a slot or two that are not drawn based on the number of actual cards in these packs. The 66T Wax pack was sold as being from the Mantle series however because that is not on the PSA slab I can't guarantee that is accurate.

A few guidelines;

The breaks will all be Youtube breaks and will include the time from the PSA/GAI slab being cracked to the last card being revealed.
The card sequence you get will be assigned by random.org prior to the pack being opened.
We will rotate the card position that may be either wax/gum stained between all participants. For example if we open 5 packs, you will not get more than one slot assigned that is either first or last card in the pack (assuming 10 participants).
If we get an extra card in the pack we will draw for it among all participants. If we get less, we will award the insert to that slot. Otherwise the insert will be drawn for as well.
All cards will be sent well protected in Cardsavers within a couple days of the actual break.

I hear you Aceecards...vintage is tough to find non-tampered with packs. I felt I was pretty safe in not going super high end with the GAI and the higher end pack going with PSA as they are about as good as you can get picking out clean packs.

JD I can't be real sure on the series which can be good or bad. The 66T pack I believe to be 1st series (Mantle series) as the packs that were graded around it were 66T series 1 packs but it wasn't labeled that so I can't guarantee it.

Any vintage wax break will be a gamble but that's partially why I think a group break is the best way to handle it...that way you get to experience a variety of old packs at less than it costs to buy any single one of these packs.

As for card selection...we'd pre-determine which card in the pack you would get by listing the participants in random.org. Before the pack is opened you would know you get the 2nd card in the 66T pack, 6th card in the 70T, etc., etc.. The only reason it gets a bit muddled is that some packs have 8 cards and some 10 (and only 5 in the 66T pack). Let me know if you need further clarification.

Just checking the past sale prices of some cards and 1971 PSA 9 commons are usually in the $200 range. That's commons...what if you hit a Ryan or Mays or a Garvey RC? How about the 66T pack...Mantle in an average PSA 8 would sell for huge dollars!

Five slots left to join us in a terrificly fun break of old vintage wax!

By the way you'd pay more than the slot price for any one of these packs on their own!
